It was great to get back in to the gym this past week. I was very sore after the first few days. It's amazing how quick you loose your muscles! It is oh so hurtful to get them back! I've been learning a ton about my eating & most specificly my metabolism. It's amazing how everything around really does affect it. OK, so this coming week we are out of town so I won't be around to blog.

back to it
Ok, So I totally admit I have been slacking on the blog! But I must say I am holding steady. I have not been consistent with my exersise, but I have been with my eating. So, I am holding steady, no weight gain or inches gained in the last 2 weeks! YAY! Ok, back to it tomorrow. It's summer & it's getting hot out there! Time to burn some calories!

Here I am
OK, So I have to admit...I took a whole week off! My body was so tired I had to give it a good break. Now I am regretting that I took that long off. Today I went in & did my usual routine, but instead of running intervals at the end I did something a little different. I ran sprints in the gym. This was SO tough...not at all easy. It brought me back to those years in high school when I played volleyball & we would have to run these sprints around the gym...I strongly disliked them then, & I strongly dislike them now! My lungs hurt so bad. What a difference it is from running intervals on a treadmill...I'd say much harder. So I am back in it...feeling good eating well. Tonight we have softball practice...just another activity to burn some more calories!

Feeling good
I finally have a few minutes to sit down & write about what's been going on with me this past month. I started this journey out doing a lot of running...especially on the tread mil. That probably lasted about 2 weeks. I was getting a little tired of running although I know how many calories it burns I was ready for something else. This something else has come in a lifting routine that I absolutely love. All together it takes me about 1 hr 20 min, to get through the whole routine including the mile of intervals I do after lifting. After doing both the running on the tread mil for 2 weeks & then switching over to lifting & intervals for 2 weeks, I can tell you that I have seen better results for my body from doing the lifting & intervals. I guess that is why trainers really encourage you to lift as well as do cardio. I have also been taking a day off in between to let my whole body recoup. So like today I lifted & did a mile in intervals so tomorrow I will take a day off & hit the gym again on Friday. I am still watching what I eat. This part is probably the toughest part of the whole process. One little slip & I could totally ruin my whole day. During this next month I am going to really focus on what I am eating. I feel like I am in a great routine with my workouts now I just need to get my eating on board! Baby steps right?!

First weigh-in
OK, so I realize I have been totally slacking this past week on updating the blog. Let me reassure you I have not forgotten about the blog. In fact I think of it everyday. I have no excuses, but to say that I have had family for the last week & am finally getting a chance to get this blog updated. As you know this is the end of my first month! I've weighed myself & have taken measurements. Here are the results for my first month. I have lost 3 lbs (not a whole lot of lbs, but I think once you read on you'll understand why). I have lost 2 inches in my thighs, 2 inches in my stomach, 2 inches in my bust :) & 1.5 inches in my upper arms & I have dropped a pant size!! Woohoo!!!! I am SO excited about these results. Even though the lbs were not as much as I would of liked I believe the real results are in the measurements & how I feel overall. Although I have not been updated as much as I should of I was still working out this past week...even went skiing one day.
I also just recently read something about weighing yourself. It stated that a person should weight themselves once a week. This allows the person to check their progress & decide if they need to do something different in their workouts or with their diet. I really think this is a great idea. I know before I said I would only weigh myself once a month, but am now realizing it would be a great idea to weigh myself once a week to check my progress.
Thanks again for the encouragement! On to month 2!

Week 4
Well the weather around here has been snowy & cold. I have not been able to do much outside in regards to exercise. Most of the time I have been going to the gym or doing some things at home. Workout videos are a great resource if you cannot get out or do not belong to a gym. Today I was able to get in & do my lifting routine & intervals. Since I have been doing this lifting routine I have really noticed a change. I can tell in different spots that I am loosing some inches :) Yesterday I heard some encouraging words from someone I know, she told me I was looking great & she could tell I was loosing weight! This was so encouraging to hear from her, especially since I have been doing this for almost month. I guess weight loss does not come instant...it has taken almost a month for me to see real results.
One thing I have learned about this lifting routine is that is helps to have a plan.

Today was another busy day, but I managed to get to the gym this morning. I once again did my lifting routin & intervals. I feel like I am getting stronger. I really believe that it helps to incorporate some type of weight training to your workout. Sorry the post have been so short lately, things around here have been super busy! Hope to get back to a more detail postings soon!

Day #24
It's amazing to think that I am 3 weeks into this plan. Time sure flew right by! Today was a quick workout at the gym since I had somewhere to be. I was able to get through my lifting routine, but was not able to do intervals at the end of the workout. I feel like I get some good cardio in while I am lifting...i'm usually huffing & puffing through it :) Tomorrow really needs to be a good cardio day...I feel like it has been awhile since I have been on the treadmil.
I was reading a little article yesterday that rated some of the fast food restaurants out there. Maybe some of you saw this article as well. Take a look...you may be surprised! Here is the web address. http://health.msn.com/nutrition/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100235019>1=31036

Day #22
Yeah! I got back to the gym today & it was a great workout. I was a little sluggish thanks to a week of sleeping in & having to get up early this morning to get the kids off to school! I lifted & ran a mile (intervals). Looking back on the last couple of days & not being able to get into the gym I was feeling really discouraged, but I had to remind myself that this is a lifelong process! Even if you miss a few days of working out you can always get back in to it. If you haven't worked out in a month, months, or even years you have to start somewhere! We all have to start somewhere...& even when we take a few days off we start back up where we left off...no biggy...just don't ever quit! When I take a few days off I usually convince myself that I really don't need to exercise anymore & how nice it would be to never step food in a gym again...but this time around I have made a commitment & I am sticking to it the best I can!
